Cornerstone Kids: Intro & Safety

WHAT IS CORNERSTONE KIDS?

Cornerstone Kids is the ministry that brings glory to Jesus by loving and serving the children and families of Cornerstone Church. We have Sunday classes during both services, AWANA Clubs during the school year, Wednesday Playday during the summer months, and some large events throughout the year like Vacation Bible School, Fall Festival, and others.

WHAT TO EXPECT IF VISITING ON A SUNDAY

Bible-saturated, safe classrooms are the goal.  When you enter the church, you will find check-in kiosks at the center of the main hallway. Greeters will be there to help you check-in your child, get any necessary contact information, and show you where your child’s class is located.

Please talk to our teachers and get to know the volunteers who will care for your child and show them the love of Jesus.

If your child is nursery to preschool age, their classroom will be located downstairs and we have a system to contact you in the sanctuary if needed. Your child will remain in the class you dropped them off for the duration of the service.

If your child is in Elementary School, their classroom will be upstairs and they will start and finish in a classroom, but will walk to our Large Group room for musical worship and their main lesson. Sometimes we go outside for Large Group if the weather permits.

HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR KIDS SAFE?

Accountability and germ/allergen awareness are the best ways to keep kids’ classrooms safe. While in one of our classrooms your child will never be alone with one adult, we always keep adults in pairs for accountability. We do not serve any foods that contain common allergens, and we always ask and identify allergies on name tags during check-in. We also take sanitation and cleanliness seriously, if your child is sick, please don’t bring them into the classroom!

WHAT ARE OUR GOALS?

We want your child to love God and love the things that God loves. By the time your child leaves Cornerstone Kids, we hope that they understand three things very clearly:

  1. Jesus is God, King & Hero,

  2. The Bible is the Word of God, and

  3. The Church is God’s people

These three truths provide a strong foundation for a child to grow more in love with God and start a lifelong journey studying His Word.

Security of your children that you entrust to us is our priority! Please be sure to familiarize yourself with our check-in process, well-child program, as well as our classroom move up process.

Security & Wellness

SECURITY - SAFETY IS OUR PRIORITY

Parents must personally drop-off and pick-up their nursery through 5th grade children at their classrooms each time they are in the building. To ensure the safety of our children, a computer security tagging system is used to identify children with their parents (for first time visitors, children will receive a uniquely numbered bracelet and with a tear off tag with matching number.)

Each week we provide you and your child matching identification tags that are exclusive to your family and your visit. This security tag must be presented to pick up your child. If it becomes necessary for us to locate you during the service, we will display this code on the screen in the sanctuary.

Make sure to hold onto your tag, as we will need to check it against what your child has before allowing anyone to pick them up! To pick up your child, simply present your tag at their classroom door, and they will be released back to you.

NURSERY AGE CHILDREN

We know leaving your baby for the first time can be overwhelming. The volunteers in our nursery have been chosen for this age group because of their love for babies, and have been trained to care for all of the needs of your child. We hope the following information will help you and your baby have a great experience on Sundays.

What to expect when bringing your child to the nursery:

  • Your child will be loved and cared for by our well-trained, loving, and qualified staff.

  • Good news, we do change diapers! We appreciate it when you leave your preferred diapers and wipes for us to use.

  • We bottle feed infants when a bottle is provided.

  • Toddlers get a snack (cheerios and goldfish).

  • We ask to be alerted to any allergies your child may have.

All classes open 20 minutes before each service begins, and remain open until 15 minutes after the service has started.

WELL-CHILD PROGRAM

We operate a well-child program. For the protection of all the children in our ministry, we cannot accept a child with any of the following symptoms:

  • runny nose

  • fresh cold - four days or less

  • fever

  • rash

  • persistent cough

  • diarrhea

  • any other signs of illness

We request that you not place your child in the class while they are sick due to the risk of exposing other children. Thank you in advance for helping us to keep our nursery classes healthy, safe, and fun for every child!
