Cold Weather Shelter

“And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’” Matthew 25:40

For several years, the Municipality of Anchorage has been allowing churches throughout Anchorage to participate in providing food and shelter to homeless families through the Emergency Cold Weather Shelter (ECWS) program. Cornerstone Church understood the need for this program, and felt God’s gentle nudge to do His work within the program. In obedience to God’s leading, Cornerstone Church is pursuing this ministry opportunity to further God’s Kingdom.

The ECWS ministry at Cornerstone Church exists to provide the opportunity to:
• provide a safe, stress-free place to rest,
• provide a warm meal,
• show Jesus Christ’s Love,
• develop Godly relationships,
• share the word of God, and
• fellowship with other believers.

These families generally have run into tough times and are now without many of the basic necessities that so many of us take for granted on a day-to-day basis.

“But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.” Luke 14:13-14
