John & Ahne Patten

John came on staff with Cornerstone Church, as Pastor of Men’s Ministry, in August of 2010. In John’s words, most all ministry with men eventually involves women and children, so the two senior Pattens form a natural partnership in ministry.

John, along with two close friends, began developing a conceptual framework for men’s ministry in the late ‘90’s. The emphasis gained momentum as they began to see that the Lord calls every man to a life of God-focused adventure; in short, trusting God with every step of our lives.

Ahne and John have been life-long adventurers through a multitude of wilderness outdoor pursuits. They started their life-adventure together at twenty years of age, and after nearly 48 years of marriage have a broad base of wilderness experiences, a combined dozen years in college, three grown children and twelve wild and crazy grandchildren, built two moderately successful and one failed business, have spent a couple of decades in one form or another of organized Christian Camping, and served several summers leading teams with Africa Inland Mission. John credits a deteriorating body to twenty five years of stone masonry. Ahne fared much better teaching first grade in public school for thirty four years.
Responding to a clear nudge from the Lord, the Pattens migrated to Anchorage from Minnesota in October of 2006 to work with men. It’s in this great city, and among the folks of Cornerstone, that the Pattens intend to finish well - by the grace of God.
